This album changed me for real. I wasn't invested in Witchouse 40k until I heard this - I was waiting for Mossback's Black Canyon City not knowing Ghostlands was to be released on the same day. At the time I was desperate writing my bachelor's thesis, and this stuff saved me for real.

Overall this is a cowboy one way trip to hell, though in many ways it feels gentler than what Witchy usually does. This record creates a lonely and contemplative feeling; I'd say it's a deeper exploration of what life feels like for Witchy's lyrical character - the slowly approaching death, the crushed hopes, the cycles of addiction and violence; - yet the rare moments of resigned clarity here are stretched as if taking over the usual narrative, leaving the swarm-infested shell of a person, a ghost, a vessel isolated, bleeding, cold and full of longing.

Bullet holes in my clothes, all of guns - repairs

The sample in The Scavenger sets the physical landscape -
